Emergency Garage Door Repair
Safe help for stuck, crooked, open, or dangerously unstable garage doors.
View serviceCollege Park grew alongside Sheridan College and has one of the most clearly dated housing profiles in Oakville, with about 42 percent of homes built between 1961 and 1990 and another 39 percent between 1991 and 2010. That means two distinct garage generations sit side by side: older narrow openings from the earlier wave, and standard attached doubles from the later one.

College Park grew slowly in the 1950s and expanded with the arrival of Sheridan College in the 1970s. It has one of Oakville's clearest housing-age profiles: about 42 percent of homes were built from 1961 to 1990, while 39 percent were built from 1991 to 2010. Bungalows, side-splits, and two-storey homes sit alongside semis, row housing, and a substantial high-rise apartment share. Upper Middle Road, Trafalgar Road, the QEW, and Sixteen Mile Creek frame the wider area. This mix means a house with a conventional garage door is only part of the College Park housing picture.
College Park is also changing around the Sheridan College area. The Town considered a housing area that could permit new townhouses and four-storey apartments near the campus, adding a density conversation to an already mixed neighbourhood. For a garage door page, the practical point is scope: detached homes, semis, and some townhomes may have private doors, while high-rise parking is a different building system. Earlier homes may have tighter original openings, whereas later detached properties can have more conventional attached-garage proportions. The door must be assessed by the home type rather than by the College Park label alone.
A College Park appointment begins by confirming the property type and the garage itself. On an older bungalow or side-split, the opening, lintel, headroom, and track space are measured before a modern sectional door is selected. On later detached homes, a standard-looking double door may still have original springs and rollers that require attention. The lift cables, drums, bearings, hinges, and track anchors are checked together when the door is uneven or noisy. An opener that hums or stops should be tested against the door's manual balance, not replaced on sound alone. For a rowhouse or private townhome garage, access and ceiling clearance are checked at that unit. High-rise shared parking equipment is not the same as a residential garage door at a house.
College Park spans two major detached-home generations, making spring age, opening fit, and panel condition highly property-specific. The mix of private homes and higher-density housing also makes an early scope check important, so private home garage work is distinguished from shared parking equipment.
